Is there evidence for Christmas, yes, in records the Roman census was the reason for Joseph and Mary’s visit to Bethlehem. Astrologically, the star of Bethlehem appeared on day of the Birth of Jesus, as to the season, the Bible mentions that it was a cold night. But let’s just say we celebrate a day for the Birth of Jesus so we begin a new year by accepting Jesus into our lives and renew ourselves to be like minded as Christ. Most of these records were lost over time but surely it was still available for scrutiny during the time of the first Gospels and there were people like the Bereans who never accepted anything without evidence and scrutiny.
How about Easter? Jesus was the sacrificial lamb, he was crucified by the insistence of the high priest according to Jewish law, not Roman law, as he was already whipped for it as per the Roman law for his alleged blasphemy. This happened on passover so we have a clearly linked history with Jewish passover. When was Jesus resurrected? He was on earth 40 days before he went up to heaven. How about Pentecost? It’s 49 days after crucification on 50th day. Everything in the Bible has time and season. Not all records are available to us today but I’m sure the Bible so heavily debated had access to evidence of each era, even today changes are applied in the light of new evidence and every change noted in footnotes with reference.
